Be Aware Of Ongoing Coastal Vacation Scams

January 22nd, 2010 · Comments Off · Articles

Though there are companies offering wholesale vacation packages that are legitimate, there are also several companies on the Internet that are posing as coastal vacation dealers and scamming thousands of people out of their hard earned money. These scam artists are well versed in travel package proposals and can sound incredibly convincing. They will offer you an amazing price for a coastal vacation getaway and will often tell you that all you have to do is send X amount of money to an address and that they (the salesperson) will take care of the rest for you. As you write your check and mail it off the scam artist collects these checks and then disappears. You are out X amount of money and a vacation dream. Other scam artists prey on victims to steal their money and identity. By doing the similar actions as above as well as taking social security numbers and bank account information for personal fraudulent use. These victims have lost money and a sense of trust.
Coastal vacation scams are still ongoing though the federal state task force has begun to take Internet business fraud much more seriously. Law enforcement sweeps targeting this type of fraud have placed 25 individual scam artists in prison for terms up to160 years. There have been 23 fraudulent business convictions and counting. Not only are customers of these services being taken advantage of, but those seeking a work from home opportunity are being subject to these actions as well. Internet companies including false coastal vacation sites are offering job opportunities claiming to make thousands of dollars while you sit at home and collect the earned cash. People are sending in a membership fee to join this false business and being scammed out of thousands of dollars and their dreams of home business operation. For those who have been victims to such scams they have had to learn how to protect their selves from this event the hard way. For those of us who have not been subjected to an Internet scam we should head some important warning signs.
In order to protect yourself from these scams you should always look for a BBB symbol. This is a symbol that states a business is legitimate and is registered with the Better Business Bureau. If this symbol is not present feel free to contact the BBB for an investigation. Prior to sending off any payments or personal information do some research. Take the time to find out where the company originated from and how long they have been in business. Look for references to see how previous customers or clients have found these services. There is nothing wrong with probing a company for information to protect yourself. Never give out personal information prior to knowing a company’s true background. If a company or its representative cannot provide this information you should contact authorities for an investigation. If a company has nothing to hide they will gladly answer any questions that you have. Protecting yourself from fraud and scams such as the coastal vacation scams is your duty to yourself as well as those around you.

How To Pick Out A Home Business Scam

January 21st, 2010 · Comments Off · Articles

While the internet has numerous opportunities to choose from, you also must be cautious of the wide array of home business scams. As sad as it is to say, there are just as many scams on the internet as there are legitimate opportunities. But with the proper precautions, you can stay clear and enjoy a rich life on the internet.
There are several things that give away a scam on the internet. The first thing you want to look at prior to joining any program is the sales page. It is common for a home business scam to go on and on about how much money you will make. Not only this, but many scams say how you will make a certain amount of money in the first week or two. Even if you are in need of extra money quickly to pay bills or debts, if you stop and think about it, this is not very likely to happen and you could end up further in debt.
There are other problems with these claims. First, no company can guarantee that you will succeed with their program. No matter how good the company is, you still have to invest time and effort to see the rewards. Therefore, it is a bogus statement for programs to guarantee you will have success.
Second, it is virtually impossible to have instant success on the internet. It certainly speeds up the process if you join an existing program over starting your own from scratch. But it still takes a good amount of time to learn the program, become an expert on the program, and learn who and where to look for customers. Do not be fooled into thinking you can make money overnight.
Lastly, far too many internet scams go on and on about how much money you will make without mentioning how you will make money. All they want you to do is join and hope that you ask questions after they have your money. Do not join anything until you know exactly what the program is all about.
The way you do this is by asking around the internet and contacting the person in charge of the program. A legitimate home business program is more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Because of this, look for contact information on the sales page and home page if you join the program. You want to know you can get in touch with someone in charge of the business. If your call or e-mail goes unanswered or the contact information is false, then you know to stay away from the opportunity.
Just like everything in life, you have to be cautious about what you join and what you invest in. There are far too many home business scams out there waiting to pounce on someone who does not know better and the Internet does make it easier. But as long as you are careful and get the questions you have answered, there should be no problem.

Avoiding Work at Home Employment Scams

January 21st, 2010 · Comments Off · Articles

This article is not aimed at discouraging people from starting a Home based business through the Internet, but to guide the people about the Business opportunities available on the net that are bogus and illegitimate. These are more popularly termed as Scams. There are numerous opportunities available on the Internet for starting a home-based business successfully. Some of these opportunities are really success oriented. However all these business strategies require hard work and dedication besides thorough knowledge about the market.

Some of these opportunities are a quick and easy way of making money. Before getting involved into any business opportunity through the Internet, people must make themselves cautioned against the fraudulent scams. They should not get carried away by people who try to fool others using fake testimonials, documents, guarantee cards, and offering huge income potentials in short period of time.

There are many reliable work at home jobs on the Internet. These jobs do not claim to give easy money in short period of time. These jobs are based on hard work and open-minded communication between the employers and trusted employees through telecommuting. These jobs are more or less similar to the regular jobs in many ways. The employee must first qualify for the job that is offered. He must then develop trust with the employer through dedicated work. Most of these telecommuting jobs are treated as part time opportunities. Another way of working on the Internet is to work as freelancer or on independent contract. You can work as an article writer, consultant, editor, designer and numerous other ways. With all these type of opportunities the risk of getting involved in scams is less.

The Internet business opportunity scams are more common in sales endeavors. The scrupulous people who run the Internet scams are always on the look out for a naive wishful and desperate surfer. Many homemakers, and elderly people become a prey under these scams. Before getting it to any business option, people must get a thorough knowledge about these scams. They can get all the necessary information from the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission. These organizations help you to keep away from the Internet based scams and also help to verify the offers on the net and file complaints if necessary. Another way to avoid scams is to start up the home based business after getting the necessary information from the Small business Administration.

It is essential for people to come forward and report the scams however small be the money involved. Scams have proliferated through the Internet because of the access to millions of customers. The most commonplace for Internet scams is through the auction sites. Fraudulent merchandise sales sites are on the rise. The scammers try to allure customers by offering hard to find goods such as electronic gadgets. Thousands of shoppers who risked their money have never received their goods. The people are advised to be skeptical of sites, which offer the goods at incredibly low prices.

Robin Hood And The Work At Home Scam

January 21st, 2010 · Comments Off · Articles

This little scam has been around for a while. It does not feature in the “Top Ten” work at home scams but it might find its way there in the near future because there has been a sudden surge of activity recently from people imitating this particular online scam.
The scam is quite simple and works as follows.
A self styled work at home scam “investigator” sets up a website with an anti-scam type of name: http://DontLetThemScamU.com or ScamNoMore.inf or something along those lines. Some even manage to work the word “authority” or “agency” into the site name to add credibility by implying they are part of a government department.
The website home page will have large headlines warning that the Internet is full of work at home scam programs and promises to reveal the truth about them. The page tells us how the author has been scammed repeatedly by work at home scam programs and has lost boatloads of money online. It goes on to describe how the scammers’ prey turned into the hunter and is now able to unmask the frauds and unveil the legitimate work at home programs discovered during his crusade.
The details of the story vary a little and sometimes the “chief investigator” has a female sidekick helping with the undercover investigations. One current version of the investigator’s story is that this serial scam victim set out on a one man mission to investigate Internet work at home programs and unmask the scammers for the benefit of humanity. After spending five years contacting every home business program owner he could find on the Internet, he is going to share (at no charge) the benefit of his vast experience with us – like a kind of virtual Robin Hood. Let’s call our example investigator Robin from now on.
When you visit his website, Robin invites you to subscribe to his email series so that he can explain in detail what work at home scams are to be encountered on the Internet and how to avoid falling for them. Everyone wants to avoid scams, so it seems sensible to subscribe.
When the emails arrive, Robin explains at length how practically every money making online opportunity is a scam. He lumps together all sorts of different online businesses such as real estate investing, stock market investing, HYIP’s, affiliate marketing, paid online surveys and data entry programs, declaring them all to be scams. For good measure, he also throws in all books and courses about building an Internet business and declares the authors of all of them to be frauds. In most instances the accusations remain vague and Robin never offers any evidence to substantiate his allegations.
Fortunately, so Robin tells us, he has managed to find treasure in the midst of all the trash and can recommend just three programs as being honest. These three programs get his seal of approval as being legitimate home business opportunities and offering a real chance to make honest money from a home based business. To help you further, Robin tells you to sign up to his selected programs quickly because they are filling up fast and you might miss the chance to join and start earning the money you’ve always dreamed of.
The truth is that the real scammer is our virtual Robin Hood, our hero is actually a bad guy in disguise. Robin has not really spent five years selflessly researching Internet work at home programs and losing money to scammers for the benefit of his fellow man. He just painted all those other programs black to make his whitewashed offerings look legitimate by comparison.
All sorts of things about Robin’s claims raise questions such as: If he was getting scammed and losing money, what did he live on? Can it be true that out of all the thousands of work at home opportunities available, there are only three legitimate ones? Does this mean companies like Avon and Tupperware have turned into scams? Apart from the niggling questions, you should instinctively distrust anyone who attempts to make his choice of work at home program look better by making derogatory comments about all the other available programs. If a work at home program is legitimate, its members will promote it without needing to tarnish the reputation of its competitors.
